I'm Lorenzo – I build software and climb mountains.
I've been fascinated by technology since childhood, writing my first program at age 6 on a Commodore 64. This early start sparked a lifelong passion for creating innovative software solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.
My entrepreneurial journey led me to found two startups in the education technology space. While they weren't exactly unicorns, they taught me invaluable lessons about building products people actually want to use. Each experience added another arrow to my quiver of "what not to do next time."
I'm the founder of Alpine Code, where we focus on creating technologies that empower individuals and organizations to work more effectively. We specialize in enterprise architecture and business process automation, often with a dash of AI to make things interesting. Think of it as teaching computers to do the boring stuff while humans focus on the fun parts.
When I'm not working on software projects or exploring new technologies, you'll find me in the Swiss Alps. Mountain climbing isn't just a hobby - it's my way of debugging life's challenges at 3000 meters above sea level.
One of my most ambitious projects has been renovating a mountain hut in the Alps, working towards complete self-sufficiency. Think "Swiss Family Robinson" meets "Tony Stark's workshop", but with more cheese and better views.
Technical Expertise
My technical journey spans multiple domains:
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Large Language Models and NLP
- Enterprise architecture and systems integration
- Business process automation and workflow optimization
- Full-stack web development with modern frameworks
- Distributed systems and cloud architecture
- DevOps and infrastructure automation
- Innovation management and digital transformation
AI & Innovation
I'm deeply passionate about artificial intelligence and its practical applications. I love using AI to solve real-world challenges, from optimizing processes to making systems smarter. It's like having a very intelligent assistant who occasionally needs to be reminded they're not human.
Sustainable Tech
I'm a bit of a renewable energy geek. This website runs on a solar-powered setup with a Turing RK1 and Starlink - because even my web servers should have a view of the mountains.
I've gone full tech-hermit with my sustainable living experiments, building hybrid energy systems with Victron components, solar panels, and wind turbines. It's like playing Minecraft in real life, but with actual electricity and less creepers.
Beyond Code
Outside of technology, I'm deeply involved in:
- Alpine climbing and mountaineering
- Road cycling and mountain biking
- Exploring mountain roads on two wheels
- Scuba diving and underwater exploration
- Renovating a self-sufficient mountain hut in the Alps
- Promoting sustainable technology practices
- Contributing to open-source projects
- Exploring AI applications in various domains
- Mentoring aspiring developers and entrepreneurs
- Advancing continuous education initiatives
